50 Shades of Mischief

50 Shades of Grey broke records on it’s opening weekend, but that’s not the only reason it’s been in the news lately! You might have heard rumours about a cinema that said they had ordered protective seat covers, but you may not have heard about some of these other crazy (but true) stories!

Arrested for Enjoying 50 Shades Too Much

A Mexican woman was reportedly arrested after being caught red-handed, masturbating while watching the film, according to La Verdad. The incident occurred in Sinaloa, a state in Western Mexico. The 33-year-old woman apparently had a prime seat in the 12th row of the cinema, where she was noticed by others that were there to see the movie. Some reports stress that the woman was unmarried. She was escorted from the cinema in cuffs (you just can’t make this stuff up!) Her name has not been released, nor do we know if she finally got her uh…release.  Our next viewer did, however…

She Lost All Control

One moviegoer forced the evacuation of a cinema in Milton Keynes, England, after she began to vomit repeatedly. The woman, who was believed to have been under the influence of alcohol, further exacerbated the situation when she also lost control of her bowels and bladder, creating a large mess and filling the theatre with a putrid smell.

50 Shades of Spongebob

Moviegoers in Massachusetts were excited to pack up their families and head to see Spongebob Squarepants 2 at WestWind Solano Theaters, however, when they looked to the side of the screen, they realized that 50 Shades was playing on the next screen, in full view of children. Of course, the parents were outraged, but the theatre company hasn’t responded to customer complaints.

Man Hides in Shame at Premiere

A Danish television crew was on hand at a showing of 50 Shades, and interviewed people that went to see it. While the crew was taping an interview with members of the audience (who are primarily female by the way), a man realized there was a camera outside the theatre, and tried to avoid being captured on video by walking back towards the theatre. However, the video shows him loitering in the background waiting for the crew to finish their taping, then eventually walking past with his head lowered once all of the other patrons left the theatre. The video became wildly popular, racking up more than 3,720,000 views on Youtube.com.

Non-Consensual Re-enactment

Sadly, a man has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman, in a loose connection to the film. Cook County prosecutors

say that the man, a 19-year-old student at the University of Illinois, was re-enacting elements of 50 Shades of Grey when he non-consensually assaulted a woman he had previously been ‘intimate’ with.

The man told her to undress, and bound her, stuffing a necktie in her mouth. He then proceeded to strike her with a belt, as well as his fists. The woman pleaded for him to stop, and even managed to partially free herself, but the man continued to sexually assault her. The man attempted to keep his roommate from returning to the room and the woman managed to escape and call the authorities. Upon his arrest, he told the police that he had assaulted the woman, but said that they were re-enacting scenes from 50 Shades. Charged with sexual assault is Mohammad Hossain, who appeared shocked when the judge set his bail at $500,000.
