Most Awkward Washroom Award

Men at a restaurant in China’s northern Shanxi province are apparently having difficulty urinating.

The weird washroom, in the city of Taiyuan, features urinals mounted against a glass panel, behind which are three scantily clad mannequins. Apparently men visiting the restaurant have found it off putting to have a female mannequin staring them in the eyes as they piss, with many succumbing to ‘stage fright’.

24-year-old Sun Kao spoke to a local TV news crew about the experience:

“I walked back out again when I saw the women there because I thought at first I was in the wrong place, but when I realised it was the proper place and I tried to relieve myself, it just didn’t work.

“It was very off putting having a good-looking woman even if it was a plastic one apparently staring at me as I tried to do my business.”

Strangely, the restroom appears to be a popular theme in China, Korea, and Japan.

Another toilet-themed eatery in Taiyuan, serves up epicurean masterpieces such as brown, curly servings of soft serve ice cream alongside typical noodle, meat and vegetable dishes. However, even if the food itself is ‘normal’ it’s served on non-traditional dishes resembling toilets and bidets. The decor itself resembles a washroom, with showers adorning the walls, and chairs meant to resemble toilet bowls filled with poop.

As weird as all this is…at least you aren’t drinking from this fountain!
