The Ethics of Public Sexual Activity

cam modela nd childA woman from MyFreeCams.com has been giving live cam shows from a library in Windsor, Ontario.  CBC News reported that there are 52 videos of this woman performing with sex toys, masturbating and exposing her breasts and genitalia.  In some videos there are children running in the background, and sometimes she even had to shoo toddlers away.  She has since been terminated from MyFreeCams.com for violating company policy.

A lot of people, myself included, engage in outdoor or public sex.  But where do we draw the line between fun kinky sex and unethical behaviour that can impact others?  How can we keep public sexual activity ethical but still maintain the fun?

I think that the alarming part of the Windsor case is that the space that she chose to engage in sexual activity was sure to have children in it.  At its most fundamental, engaging in sexual conduct around children, or where one can be interrupted by children, is most definitely unethical.  And though the police were not pressing charges in that case, indecent exposure is definitely a criminal issue that can be overlooked in some circumstances, but not when children are being exposed to adult activities.

There are so many places and times where this particular kink can be enjoyed – parks late at night, bar washrooms, balconies, bent over cars in our driveways, camp sites, alleyways.  And as risque and amazing as these experiences can be, we must try our hardest to mitigate the risk of damaging other people when engaging in our kinks.  It is our job, to be sure that we are not exposing children, or other vulnerable peoples to sexuality that they did not agree to be exposed to.  At its base, it is important to remember that no one else has consented to seeing public sex of any kind.

So before you engage in public sexual activity, be it masturbatory or with partners, think about who you are exposing to your kink and if anyone is being harmed!
