Kinky Q & A – Top Drop

Q and ADear Kinkster,

I know that both my Master and I experience similar effects of drop, and I was wondering if you can give me some insight for how to help him during that time?

Thanks for your suggestions!

Dear sub,

It’s true that many dominants experience ‘drop’ or ‘top drop’ in the hours or days following play. For those that are unfamiliar with the term, that’s what we’ve named the way your body and mind behave following play. Your body starts pumping adrenaline and endorphins when you’re playing, which is basically a natural high. When you come down from that, some people feel tired, numb, confused, etc.

Start out by talking to him about it, and asking if there’s anything that you can do to help him. Try to find out what his physical wants/needs are, and see if there’s anything you could do to serve or accommodate him. One thing to keep in mind is that your dominant may occasionally struggle with the way they’ve treated you during a scene (ex. humiliation, punishment, physical violence), even though it was something you wanted and enjoyed.  It’s important that you reinforce your desire to play that way, and to let them know that you care about them and had a fun time playing.

Ultimately, sub or Top drop is something that varies from person to person, so you’ll have to work together to come up with a way to battle it.

Do you experience drop after play? Have a tip to share? Tell us about it below!
